Diclofenac 50 mg is an active sodium substance that relieves inflammation and pain in various different medical conditions. To mention on some of the medical conditions in which this drug is efficiently used include different types of arthritis including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute gout and ankylosing spondylitis. Musculo skeletal disorders of acute types are also treated through this drug which include problems of tendinitis, bursitis, tenosynovitis and periarthritis which refers to problems such as frozen shoulders, etc. Further on painful conditions that arise in case of trauma including lower back pain, strains, Diclofenac 50mg sprains, fracture, orthopedic, dislocations, dental problems and minor surgeries are also treated using diclofenac.
To escape any type of undesirable effect from occurring the appropriate way of using this drug is to use it in minimum possible quantities for the shortest period of time. Diclofenac belong to the class of medical drugs that are included in the Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) and though there is no evident history of its worse side effects in elderly individuals it is recommended for them to use diclofenac with caution as they are more prone to adverse reactions from drugs. Also minimum use of this drug is prescribed to frail elderly individuals and those who are considered underweight and during the therapy GI bleeding should be monitored in such patients.
The individuals which according to instructions should not use this drug include those who have the tendency of developing hypersensitivity to the active ingredients of the drug. Also patients of asthma, acute rhinitis, angioedema or urticaria who have suffered any type of hypersensitivity to other types of Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs like ibuprofen aspirin or the like should also avoid diclofenac. Also patients suffering from gastro intestinal ulcers either in an active phase or sometime in the past should avoid use of this drug as it has been reported to have given GI bleeding symptoms to abusers of the drug. Further on pregnant women in the last stages of pregnancy, renal and heart failure patients and sufferers of acute porphyria should also avoid use of diclofenac. Besides pregnant women, women who are trying to conceive should also abstain from using diclofenac as it impairs female fertility.
Though there has been no evidence prominent enough to prohibit use of diclofenac with other drugs however in some minor cases use of this Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug with other anti coagulant and anti diabetic agents have been noticed to leave side effects. Also use of the drug with another NSAID consistently may increase the chances of Gastro Intestinal bleeding.
As described before use of diclofen 50 mg in pregnancy especially in the last trimester in contraindicated as it can possibly affect the cardiovascular system fetus, labor can also be delayed due to this drug and the tendency of excessive bleeding is increased in both the child and the mother. Also Diclofenac should be used in the first two trimesters only in case the benefits of consuming outweigh the side effects and potential risks of the drug.
